The Art of Patronage
Throughout history, artists have relied upon patrons to support the creation and circulation of their work.
The Minnaar Limited Edition Sponsorship Program continues this tradition in a new way.
Rather than commissioning commercial designs or advertising artwork, a sponsor selects an original Minnaar design that speaks to them and supports its release as a limited edition.
A business, for example, might sponsor a work that naturally reflects its profession, location, interests, or values.
The artwork remains an independent creation of Steven Minnaar, not a piece of branded merchandise.
The result is genuine art that can be collected, gifted, sold, or traded—regardless of who sponsored its release.
Selected Limited Editions
Available designs are chosen from Steven Minnaar's own original artwork.
Each sponsored design is released in a declared, numbered edition and recorded in the permanent Minnaar Catalogue.
Registered impressions are:
- Original, hand-pulled linocut prints, signed and numbered by the artist.
- Issued within a predetermined limited edition.
- Accompanied by a digital Certificate of Authenticity.
- Assigned a Sovereign Value.
- Eligible for exchange within the Minnaar Catalogue under its established exchange rules.
Each registered impression becomes part of Minnaar Money — Art You Can Trade.
Sponsors may acquire impressions for their own collections or present them as gifts to customers, employees, friends, family, and associates.
The artwork itself need not carry any commercial branding.
It remains a Minnaar in its own right.
Sponsorship Privileges
A sponsoring patron receives the first opportunity to purchase impressions from the selected edition.
Depending upon the artwork and the arrangement, sponsorship may also provide exclusive purchasing rights to newly issued impressions.
Prints can be produced and delivered in practical quantities over time, according to the agreed arrangement and the declared edition limit.
Sponsors may use their acquired impressions as they wish—to collect, display, give away, sell, or trade.
Exclusive purchasing arrangements concern the acquisition of newly issued impressions from the artist and do not restrict the subsequent ownership or voluntary exchange of impressions already in circulation.
Sponsorship terms are considered individually, taking into account the selected artwork, edition size, and intended participation.
Sponsors may also be acknowledged in the Minnaar Catalogue, if desired.
Art That Keeps Circulating
Minnaar Money is created to be collected, enjoyed, and exchanged.
An impression given to a friend, customer, or associate may introduce someone new to the work of Steven Minnaar and the wider Minnaar Money collection.
A recipient may keep the artwork indefinitely, pass it along as a gift, or exchange it for another eligible Minnaar.
In this way, a single sponsored edition can become part of many personal collections and develop a history of its own.
